This was an exceptionally fun project that I directed from concept to completion. The task was to create a memorable impression with a novel “Christmas Card” that would be sent to clients and collogues.* I worked with our writer who penned a brilliant holiday poem, and then I designed and lettered the entire thing by hand.
It was a unique challenge to create a beautiful layout that would also maintain the readability and rhythm of the poem while visually capturing the tone that was so beautifully expressed in the words.
I scanned the art and vectorized it, and split it into two files so separate plates could be made for two-color foil stamping on a 1940’s letterpress. I used dark smoke 200 lb. vellum cover with creamy silver and icy blue foils for a dreamy wintery feel that matched the poem.
The result was fantastic, and has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
